A documentary by MOM Works in co-production with IB3, with the support of the Parlament de les Illes Balears.

Synopsis

On March 1, 1983, the Statute of Autonomy of the Balearic Islands is published with the rank of organic law in the Official State Gazette. It means that, for the first time since the Nueva Planta Decrees for the Kingdom of Mallorca in 1715, the Balearic Islands again have their own government.

"40 years of Statute" is a documentary, produced by IB3 in collaboration with MOM Works, framed in the commemoration of the fortieth anniversary of our basic institutional norm, which analyzes the importance of self-government embodied in the Statute of Autonomy, revealing what it has meant for the Balearic citizen through the exchange of opinions between generations, anecdotes and experiences of both people close to the decisions of self-government and anonymous citizens.

This feature-length documentary offers a panoramic view of how the Autonomous Administration has evolved over the last forty years to date to become an effective tool for cohesion, coexistence, social, political and economic progress in the Balearic Islands, reflecting on how the self-government model of the Balearic Islands has had to respond to the challenges posed by a constantly evolving society.

In the formal field, "40 years of the Statute" reviews through archive images the most important events of the last forty years of the history of the Balearic Islands, but at the same time counted with the present time record of the vision of these events and their current weight through more than twenty interviews, especially with politicians, historians and journalists who have experienced these changes on the front lines.
